"The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away” is from Job 1:21 in the Bible. “Just had lunch at an excellent Christian restaurant called ‘The Lord Giveth’. They also do takeaways” is a joke that was posted on Twitter on September 28, 2011.

“I just had lunch at an excellent Christian restaurant called The Lord Giveth. They also do takeaways. Tim Vine” was posted on Twitter on June 24, 2015. English writer and comedian Tim Vine possibly originated the joke, but earlier citations are needed.
