Linguinistics (linguine + linguistics)

“Linguine” (a type of pasta) is sometimes confused with “linguistics” (the scientific study of language), especially with the portmanteau word “linguinistics.” “Linguistics = studies of linguini” was posted on Twitter by Andrew on June 3, 2010. “Thinking of returning to school in the autumn.  Should I go with art or linguinistics? I have a palate for both” was posted on Twitter by Professor Klugmacher on March 9, 2012. “Linguinistics: the scientific study of flat macaroni products, not to be confused with the Fettuccinetics branch of macaroni philosophy” was posted on Twitter by djinnj on August 7, 2012.

Wikipedia: Linguine
Linguine (/lɪŋˈɡwiːni/; Italian: [liŋˈɡwiːne]) is a type of pasta similar to fettuccine and trenette but elliptical in section rather than flat. It is about 4 millimetres (0.16 in) in width, which is wider than spaghetti but not as wide as fettuccine. The name linguine means “little tongues” in Italian, where it is a plural of the feminine linguina.

Wikipedia: Linguistics
Linguistics is the scientific study of language, and involves an analysis of language form, language meaning, and language in context.

I think I confuse ‘linguistics’ as the ‘study of pasta’ a little too much.

I performed cunning linguini on your mother. It was far too cheesy for my taste, and I’ve never heard of putting fish in a pasta. But whatever. OPs mom does as OPs mom…is?
