“Luck is for losers” is a gaming/sporting adage that has been printed in many images. Winners use skill and talent, not luck. “Believers In Luck Are Usually Losers” was a headline in the Sun-Democrat (Paducah, KY) on December 2, 1970.
 
“We have had good fortune but not luck. Luck is for losers” was said by Marquette basketball coach Al McGuire (1928-2001) and printed in the Chicago (IL) Tribune on March 12, 1971.
 
American mixed martial artist and retired professional wrestler CM Punk has popularized “Luck is for losers” since 2009 and has this on a tattoo on his left arm.
