“May your heart be light and happy, may your smile be big and wide, and may your pockets always…”

“May your heart be light and happy, may your smile be big and wide, and may your pockets always have a coin or two inside” is an Irish blessing (or proverb) that has been printed on many images. Authorship is unknown.

“May your heart be light and happy, May your smile be big and wide, And may your pockets always have A coin or two inside!” was printed in the book Stanley Cup Dream (2004) by Brian McFarlane. “May your heart be light and happy/ May your smile be big and wide/ And my your pockets always have/ A tinkle of Gold inside” was posted on the newsgroup alt.support.hepatitis on March 17, 2004. The “tinkle of gold inside” ending has been less popular.

“May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, and may God’s grace be with you each day and each night” is a related blessing.
