“May your house always be too small to hold all your friends”

“May your home/house always be too small to hold all of your friends” is a saying that has been printed on many images. A “Household Hints from Heloise” by Heoise Cruse syndicated newspaper column of April 18, 1966 contained the saying:

“DEAR HELOISE: May your house always be too small to hold all of your friends…George”

The newsgroup alt.quotations included “May your home always be too small to hold all of your friends” on March 17, 2000 under “Irish Toasts.” An Irish source is unknown, but the saying has been popular on St. Patrick’s Day, as well as on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
