“Me and my friends are in a band called ‘Duvet.’ We’re a cover band”

A “cover band” performs “covers”—the songs of other songwriters. “Me and my friends are in a band called Duvet. We’re a cover band” is a joke that was posted on Twitter by Tommy on October 19, 2009. “RT @FunnyJoker: Me and my mates are in a band called Duvet.  We’re a cover band” was posted on Twitter by Staci Botter later on October 19, 2009.

The joke was included in “60 Corny Music Puns That Are Completely Hilarious” by Juliet Lanka on Thought Catalog on July 30, 2018.

“I’m bringing out a new version of the Band Aid song, ‘Duvet Know It’s Christmas?’ It’s a cover!” is a related “duvet” joke. “I used to be in a band called Gravy and Onions. We covered Meat Loaf” and “I’ve started a band and called it ‘Books.’ So no one can judge us by our covers” are other puns about covering songs.

Wikipedia: Duvet
A duvet (UK: /ˈdjuːveɪ/, US: /duːˈveɪ/; from French duvet [dyvɛ], meaning ‘down’ ) is a type of bedding consisting of a soft flat bag filled with down, feathers, wool, silk or a synthetic alternative, and typically protected with a removable cover, analogous to a pillow and pillow case. Sleepers often use a duvet without a top bed sheet, as the duvet cover can readily be removed and laundered as often as the bottom sheet. Duvets originated in rural Europe and were filled with the down feathers of ducks or geese.
