Motherfuckers Touching my Ass (Metropolitan Transportation Authority or MTA nickname)

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates the subways and buses in New York City. The Scissor Sisters are a New York-based band, and the lyrics in its song “Let’s Have a Kiki” (2012) suggest the overcrowding and the sexual harassment on the MTA’s subways:

“And take the train to the club
And we all know
That the MTA should stand for Motherfuckers Touching my Ass.”

This lyric has been frequently cited on Twitter.

The MTA has also been nicknamed “More Trouble Ahead” (cited in print since at least 1995), “Money Thrown Away” (cited in print since at least 1996), “Might Take Awhile” (cited in print since at least 2007), “May Take Awhile” (cited in print since at least 2008), “Many Trains Absent” (entered in the Urban Dictionary in 2008), “Money Taking Agency” (cited in print since at least 2009) and “More Than Awful” (January 31, 2019 New York Daily News front page).
