Mr. Met And His Journey Through The Big Apple (children’s book by Aimee Aryal, 2008)

Rising Apple is a blog about the New York Mets baseball team that was started in 2011. It is part of the Fansided series of sports blogs.

The name “Rising Apple” is from the New York Mets’ famous “Home Run Apple” that started at Shea Stadium in 1980, and continued with a newer apple at Citi Field in 2009. When a New York Mets player hits a home run, the apple rises out of a hat. The Home Run Apple was inspired by the nickname of New York City, the “Big Apple.”

The children’s book Mr. Met And His Journey Through The Big Apple (2008) by Aimee Aryal is another New York Mets-Big Apple connection. Mr. Met is the mascot of the New York Mets.

Mets are posting some cool stuff via their @instagram account. They’ve put the ASG logo on the home run apple. Looks pretty awesome.
