“My high school was so small we had driver’s ed and sex ed in the same car”

“My high school was so small we had driver’s education and sex education in the same car” is a joke that has been told by many people. This was printed in the Philadelphia (PA) Daily News on July 5, 1978:

“Comic Tom Dreesen’s solution to school districts who are facing budget cuts: ‘At my high school,’ he told Mike Douglas, ‘they taught driver’s education and sex education in the same car!’”

American comedian Tom Dreesen popularized the joke on television’s The Mike Douglas Show in 1978, although he might have said the joke before this appearance.
