"My New Year’s resolution is to stop putting my foot in my mouth. I bet yours is to lose weight, huh?” is a jocular saying that has been printed on several images. The speaker is “putting a foot in the mouth” (making a mistake) by calling someone fat.

One says, ‘My New Years resolution is to stop putting my foot in my mouth. I suppose your New Years resolution is, to lose all the extra weight you’re carrying around’” was posted on the newsgroup alt.support.mult-sclerosis on January 10, 2006.
