“Name your baby ‘Gotham’” (joke)

The fictional superhero Batman always saves Gotham City. A joke has it that pregnant women should name their boys “Gotham.” That way, if a mother needs help changing a diaper in the middle of the night, she just needs to tell her husband, “Gotham needs you!”

“Women should name their kids Gotham. 100% of the time your husband will help if you say, ‘Gotham needs you’” was posted on Twitter on February 17, 2014.

The joke has been printed on many images.

Wikipedia: Gotham City
Gotham City (/ˈɡɒθəm/ GOTH-əm), or simply Gotham, is a fictional city appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, best known as the home of Batman. Gotham City was first identified as Batman’s place of residence in Batman #4 (Dec. 1940) and has since been the setting of most stories featuring the character.

The city is depicted as being in close proximity to Metropolis, with the vast majority of DC Comics references placing Gotham City specifically in the state of New Jersey. Cities such as New York City, which borders New Jersey, and Chicago have also influenced the look and feel of Gotham over the years.

If I have a kid the mother won’t have to do SHIT if we name him Gotham. Like she can just say “Gotham needs you” and I will do anything.

How to Get Your Husband to Get Up in the Middle of the Night to Change the Baby’s Diaper
Alex Santoso • Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 3:00 AM
How do you get men to help change the baby’s diaper in the middle of the night? As this Facebook post suggests, the answer is as simple as the right name for the baby:

Ladies- if you are pregnant, and know your baby is a boy ... consider naming your child “Gotham.” That way, when your baby starts crying in the middle of the night, all you have to do is turn to your husband and whisper, “Gotham needs you.” And it won’t matter if it’s the first time or the fiftieth time he’s hearing it, he will get up and take care of business. And you can roll over and get your well-deserved sleep.

There you go, ladies. You’re welcome.

Name for my son (self.Gotham)
submitted January 24, 2015 by hobogoblin
My wife and I are having our first baby, a boy, and we were talking with friends about names. One of her friends suggested we name him “Gotham”, her reasoning being that anytime he woke up crying in the middle of the night my wife would just have to say ” Honey, Gotham needs you.” and I’d be obligated to go help.
It scared me how much that trick would actually work.

So when it cries in the middle of the night, you can tell your husband, “Gotham needs you”
