New York Reload (a second loaded gun)
A "New York reload" is when the first gun runs out of ammunition and you "reload" with a second fully loaded gun. The term appears to date from the 1980s or early 1990s.

What's a New York reload?
It's a gun fighting technique. After firing all the shots from your first gun, you let the gun drop to the ground and pull your second gun.

Are you familiar with "New York Reload"? It means drawing a second gun. For many years, NY City cops had to use revolvers and could not carry speed loaders for them. (If they reloaded they had to do it from belt loops holding one cartridge each.) They were, however, permitted a concealed second gun.

This expression is sometimes corrupted to St. Louis Reload, Chicago Reload, and so on. It originated in New York in the way I have explained.

A "New York Reload" (second gun) allows us to continue the fight.

The fastest reload with a revolver (and sometimes with an autoloader) is a New York reload - drawing a second gun.

That does not stop players from using a "New York Reload" (draw another pre-loaded pistol from the bandolier and drop the one you just fired).

By reading your post, I see you already know the fastest malf. clearing procedure is the "New York" reload. (go for your back up gun)
