“New York strip—how does a steak get a dance name?”

A “New York strip steak” has nothing to do with a New York strip club (although some clubs serve the steak), but there are jokes. “When I’m in a steak house I order the NY Strip. I’m happy with the steak, but I actually hope to get a lap dance instead” was posted on Twitter on April 11, 2013. “New York strip - how does a steak get a dance name?” was posted on Twitter on August 1, 2015. “Not too sure if the ‘NY strip special’ is some sort of lap dance or a steak??????” was posted on Twitter on August 15, 2015.

A riddle was posted on Reddit—Jokes on January 31, 2018:

Q: Where can you go to get a lap dance and a decent steak?
A: The New York Strip Club.

Wikipedia: Strip steak
The strip steak is a cut of beef steaks from the short loin from a cow. It consists of a muscle that does little work, the longissimus, making the meat particularly tender; although not as tender as the nearby psoas major or tenderloin. Fat content of the strip is somewhere between the two cuts. Unlike the tenderloin, the longissimus is a sizable muscle, allowing it to be cut into larger portions.

Delmonico’s Restaurant, an operation opened in New York City in 1827, offered as one of its signature dishes a cut from the short loin called a Delmonico steak. Due to its association with the city, it is often referred to as a New York strip steak.

New York Strip Steak wouldn’t have to strip if her dad had gone to more of her dance recitals.
