“No Jacket, No Tie, No Attitude” (The Mark)
"No jacket, no tie, no attitude" is the slogan of The Mark, a hotel at 25 East 77th Street. Most of the hotel guests wear clothes, however.

Just off Fifth Avenue's Museum Mile, this hotel offers unmatched comfort. Not surprising, the hotel attracts a celebrity crowd. Rich details in all 180 rooms and suites abound, including Frette linens and marble bathrooms with oversized tubs, heated towel racks, chilled lavender eye masks and lip balm.
All rooms have four dual-line telephones with data ports, cell phones, cable TV with VCRs, faxes, scales, potpourri and more. Almost all also have kitchenettes called pantries, and still others have terraces with box topiaries, carefully tended. Larger suites feature stereo systems and libraries. A fully equipped Wellness Suite has an in-room sauna and steam room. Mark's Bar is cozy and clubby, while Mark's Restaurant is clubby and elegant, with its gold leaf, marble and ebony tones. The afternoon tea -- unique in the city -- is presided over by a Chinese Tea Master, who serves rare brews alongside traditional scones and sandwiches and more unusual accompaniments such as Louisiana prawns with roasted pepper relish. I didn't want to put my sweaty gym clothes on just to go to my room, so I wore the robe into the elevator, which was crowded as usual. Since this is a hotel that has T-shirts emblazoned "No Jacket, No Tie, No Attitude," I figured no one would say a word. No one did.
