“Oedipus and Midas walk into a bar…” (bar joke)

“A guy walks into a bar…” is a typical form of what has been called the “bar joke.” A Greek mythology version was posted on both Reddit—Dadjokes and Reddit—Jokes on March 9, 2021:

“Oedipus, Aphrodite and Midas walk into a bar… I forgot the rest of the joke but I can assure you it’s mother-fucking gold.”

Several commenters suggested that Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) can be removed from the joke. “This is motherfucking gold: Oedipus and Midas walk into a bar” had been posted on Twitter by Aaargghhh on November 7, 2018.
