“On top of the News, ahead of the Times” (New York Newsday slogan)

Wikipedia: New York Newsday
New York Newsday was an American daily newspaper that primarily served New York City and was sold throughout the New York metropolitan area. The paper, established in 1985, was a New York City-specific offshoot of Newsday, a Long Island-based newspaper that preceded (and succeeded) New York Newsday. The paper was closed by its owner, Times Mirror Company, in 1995.

11 December 1990, Boston (MA) Herald, “James T. Callaway, N. Y. ad executive, 52” by Laura Raposa, pg. 57, col. 3:
James Thorpe Callaway, the New York advertising executive known for his “bigger-than-life style,” died Saturday after a two-year bout with lung cancer. He was 52.

Mr. Callaway, a 29-year veteran of the ad business, was president of Holland & Callaway Advertising, a small shop specializing in media advertising.
(...)
In fact, Mr. Callaway was responsible for the News’ slogan, “New York’s Hometown Newspaper,” and New York Newsday’s “On top of the news and ahead of the times.”
