Parents’ Liberation Day (first day of school)

The first day of school is sometimes jokingly terms “Parent’s Liberation Day” or “Parents’ Liberation Day.” “Parents Liberation Day” was printed in an advertisement in the The Courier-Journal (Louisville, KY) on August 6, 1989. “Around our house, this is known as PLD. Parent’s Liberation Day!” was printed on a blog of the Washington (DC) Post on August 27, 2009.
 
“Today, the 1.1 million students in NYC’s public school system return to class, making it the unofficial ‘Parents Liberation Day’” was printed on the New York City blog Gothamist on September 9, 2009.
