“People are fed by the food industry, which pays no attention to health”

American author and farmer Wendell Berry wrote in Sex, Economy, Freedom & Community: Eight Essays (1993):

“There is no connection between food and health. People are fed by the food industry, which pays no attention to health, and are healed by the health industry, which pays no attention to food.”

The quotation was printed on posters and appeared on many websites in 2012, with one version edited as:

“People are fed by the FOOD industry, which pays no attention to HEALTH…and are treated by the HEALTH industry, which pays no attention to FOOD.”
