“People are panicking and already trading sex for food. It’s crazy. Anyways I got a Klondike bar”

"People are panicking and already trading sex for food. It’s crazy. Anyways I got a Klondike bar” is a joke that has been printed on several images. “What would you do for a Klondike bar?” is a famous advertising jingle that began in 1982. The joke began in March 2020 and was originally associated with the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, but became popular again in 2022 amid looming food shortages.

“People are panicking and already trading sex for food. It’s crazy. Anyways I got a Klondike bar” was posted on Facebook by More Crazy Stuff on March 12, 2020.

“Klondike bar” is sometimes replaced with “tacos.” “People are panicking and already trading sex for food. It’s crazy! Anyways I got tacos” was posted on Twitter by Princesa Peach on March 15, 2020.

Other jokes on the Klondike bar jingle include “I’ll never be able to run for President because of what I did for a Klondike Bar,” “Might have to start doing some of that shady Klondike Bar shit for a gallon of gas soon” and “Whenever I want a Klondike bar, I just pay for it.”

Wikipedia: Klondike bar
Klondike is a brand name for a dessert generally consisting of a vanilla ice cream square coated with a thin layer of chocolate, often known as a Klondike bar.

History
The Klondike bar was created by the Isaly Dairy Company of Mansfield, Ohio in the early 1920s and named after the Klondike River of Yukon, Canada. Rights to the name were eventually sold to Good Humor-Breyers, part of Unilever. It is known for its jingle slogan, “What would you do for a Klondike Bar?”.

The first recorded advertisement for the Klondike was on February 5, 1922, in the Youngstown Vindicator. The bars are generally wrapped with a silver-colored wrapper depicting a polar bear mascot for the brand. Unlike a traditional frozen ice pop, or traditional ice cream bar, the Klondike bar does not have a stick due to its size, a point often touted in advertising.

Klondike Bar—About
The original Klondike® Bar was handmade by dipping square slices of homemade ice cream into pans of rich, delicious Swiss milk chocolate. The family produced the bars in Ohio just outside of Youngstown and in Pittsburgh. By the 1940s, the Isaly family had several dairy plants that supplied more than 300 Isaly Dairy stores. Klondike® Bars were sold in all stores.

KLONDIKE® BAR BECOMES A NATIONAL FAVORITE
Until the 1970s, the Klondike® Bar was sold only in Pennsylvania and Ohio. In 1978, distribution expanded into Florida, followed by New York and New England. Finally, in 1982, a nationwide advertising and publicity campaign was launched with the tag, “What would you do for a Klondike® Bar?” Soon Klondike Bars were available across the country.
