“People who don’t have tattoos have a right to bare arms”

The Second Amendment “right to bear arms” has nothing to do with “bears” or “bare arms,” but there are several tattoo jokes.

“Going to the tattoo shop to forfeit my right to bare arms” was posted on Twitter by funkytownbeer on December 16, 2008. “Is my refusal to have tattoos my right to bare arms??? Hahaha” was posted on Twitter by SaiWut on March 18, 2011. “The right to bear arms means no tattoos…” was posted on Twitter by #LongLiveBJ on March 25, 2012. “People who don’t have #tattoos have a right to #bare arms” was posted on Twitter by Geddenon on August 3, 2012.

“If your guns have ugly tattoos, I revoke your right to bare arms” was posted on Twitter by JoshWitz on September 18, 2015. The “guns” here mean “arms,” as in the popular expression, “Sun’s out, guns out.”

“I decided my right arm is going to be for bear tattoos because I have a right to bear arms” was posted on Twitter by Mikhail Popov on May 9, 2018. “My wife won’t let me get a tattoo of a grizzly on each bicep. She is infringing on my right to bear arms” was posted on Reddit—Dadjokes on November 10, 2020.

Wikipedia: Second Amendment to the United State Constitution
The Second Amendment (Amendment II) to the United States Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms. It was ratified on December 15, 1791, along with nine other articles of the Bill of Rights. In District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), the Supreme Court affirmed for the first time that the right belongs to individuals, for self-defense in the home, while also including, as dicta, that the right is not unlimited and does not preclude the existence of certain long-standing prohibitions such as those forbidding “the possession of firearms by felons and the mentally ill” or restrictions on “the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons”. In McDonald v. City of Chicago (2010) the Supreme Court ruled that state and local governments are limited to the same extent as the federal government from infringing upon this right.
