“Prospects will break your heart” (baseball adage)

“Prospects will break your heart ” is a baseball adage, used and popularized by Baseball Prospectus in February 2011 and in following years.

The saying especially applies to pitching prospects, who will “break your heart” with career-ending injuries. “Pitching prospects will break your heart” was cited in 1998 in the newsgroup alt.sports.baseball.tor-bluejays.

Let’s look at your argument for a second. You say that the Jays have a surplus of excelent pitching. Confronted with teh problem of their lofty ERA, you degrade the quality of 2 members, do not sufficiently explain the sufferings of a third, and fail to provide proven backups (selecting pitchers that have not had any recent long term success in teh majors…pitching prospects will break your heart.) to replace them.
