“Remember when we treated the flu with chicken soup, saltines and warm tea instead of communism?”

The COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic resulted in 2020 death numbers that were similar to the annual flu, and the number of deaths from the flu dropped dramatically. Many people believed that the new Covid numbers were the old, normal flu numbers, but that people were instructed to be more afraid of Covid.
     
A joke was posted on Twitter by Yesi on September 23, 2021:
