The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) was formed in 1727; its U.S. branch is the Citizens Financial Group (Citizens Bank). The obvious RBS nickname of “Royal B.S.” (Royal Bull Shit) has been cited in print since at least 2007.

Branding
RBS branding on a branch in JerseyThe RBS Group uses branding developed for the Bank on its merger with the National Commercial Bank of Scotland in 1969. The Group’s logo takes the form of an abstract symbol of four inward-pointing arrows known as the “Daisy Wheel” and is based on an arrangement of 36 piles of coins in a 6 by 6 square, representing the accumulation and concentration of wealth by the Group. The Daisy Wheel logo was later adopted by RBS subsidiaries Worldpay, Ulster Bank in Ireland and Citizens Financial Group in the United States.

RBS: Regal Bull Shit
On the news this morning, it was suggested by RBS directors that they’d be forced to resign en masse should government - the 80+% owner of the bank - tells it not to pay out the £1.5bn in bonuses that the bank is planning.
