“Schrödinger’s Cash: When you don’t know how much is in your bank account”

The paradox of “Schrödinger’s cat” is sometimes joked as “Schrödinger’s cash” or “Schrödinger’s money”—something that is both there and not there. “I have just discovered an interesting new variation to the “Schrodinger’s Cat” hypothesis - which I propose to call ‘Schrodinger’s Cash’” was posted on the newsgroup uk.local.cumbria on January 3, 2002. “I’m playing a little game called ‘Schrodinger’s Money’ with my wallet right now” was posted on Twitter by PiercePiercePiercePi on October 7, 2010. “The Euro Has Become Schrodinger’s Money: Goldman Sees European Currency As Both Alive And Dead” was an article posted on the financial blog Zero Hedge on November 28, 2010.

Wikipedia: Schrödinger’s cat
Schrödinger’s cat is a thought experiment, sometimes described as a paradox, devised by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger in 1935. It illustrates what he saw as the problem of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics applied to everyday objects. The scenario presents a cat that may be simultaneously both alive and dead, a state known as a quantum superposition, as a result of being linked to a random subatomic event that may or may not occur.

Hi
To any scientifically minded people out there, I have just discovered an interesting new variation to the “Schrodinger’s Cat” hypothesis - which I propose to call “Schrodinger’s Cash”.

Briefly this states that if you put money into your wallet or purse, you are not sure whether it is going to be there or not the next time you open it.

Deal or no deal= schrodinger’s cash. Also, had I come up with the idea I would have dismissed it as too stupid for tv.

Schrödinger’s cash: Minting quantum money
By Justin Mullins
(...)
Quantum physicists think a lot about cash. Not just any old money, you understand. They think about quantum cash. Quantum banknotes aren’t like credit cards or dollar bills. They are simply information: a mixture of bits – the 0s and 1s that we use to send electronic transactions – and quantum bits, or qubits, that are governed by the laws of quantum mechanics and can be both a 0 and 1 at the same time.
