“She said to kiss her where it smells bad, so I took her to New Jersey”

New Yorkers have jokes about New Jersey. One popular joke is:

“A young couple were making out passionately in a car when the girl said, ‘Oh, oh, kiss me where it smells so bad!” So he drove her to New Jersey.”

The joke has been cited in print since at least 1982. The joke has been told by Brooklyn-born comedian Gilbert Gottfried and has also been printed on T-shirts.
