Shellebration (shell + celebration)

A “shellebration” (shell + celebration) is a seafood festival. “A clambake (shellebration)” was cited in print in 1959. “Eating our seafood is a shell-ebration” was a 1976 newspaper advertisement for a New Jersey steak & oyster house.

12 April 1959, The Daily Tar Heel (Chapel Hill, NC), pg. 4, col. 8 ad:
Take a word—celebration, for example. With it, you can have a football rally (yellebration), a gossipy bridge party (tellebration), or a clambake (shellebration). That’s Thinklish—and it’s that easy!
(Lucky Strike cigarettes.—ed.)

13 August 1976, Courier-Post (Cherry Hill, NJ), Weekend sec., pg. 4, col. 3 ad:
Eating our seafood is a shell-ebration.

Watch out scallops, oysters, clams and conchs, Kelley Lane wants your shell! She blames her fascination with shells on her mom. “She lived in Goodland and would take out parties,” Lane said, “visitors, looking for shells.” For years Lane’s mother collected shells herself.
