“Shit happens. Get the whiskey”

"Shit happens. Get the whiskey/ wine/ tequila” is a drinking saying that has been printed on many images. “Shit happens” is a common saying that was popularized in the 1980s.

“Shit happens. Get the whiskey” was said by actor Jeff Bridges in the American neo-noir thriller film Bad Times at the El Royale (2018). The film was written and directed by Drew Goddard.

“Shit happens. Get the tequila” has been printed on many images, and “Shit happens. Get the wine” has also been printed on many images.

Wikipedia: Shit happens
Shit happens is a common vulgar slang phrase that is used as a simple existential observation that life is full of unpredictable events, similar to “Así es la vida” or “C’est la vie”. The phrase is an acknowledgment that bad things happen to people seemingly for no particular reason. The phrase was first observed in 1964, but wasn’t used in a print publication until 1983. Alternately said, albeit less vulgarly, as “stuff happens”.

It may be cynical as all hell, but “Shit happens, get the whiskey” is probably now on track to become a motto for many all across the internet. And, of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s delivered by one of the greatest actors alive while dressed up as a priest sporting some clear fighting wounds.

“Bad Times At The El Royale” justified its existence with five words from Jeff Bridges’ Father Flynn:
“Shit happens. Get the whiskey.”
Why does Jeff Bridges keep delivering lines that feel like my future epitaph?
