The expression “same shit, different day” is not meant to be taken literally. A joke was posted on the newsgroup alt.tasteless on September 11, 1999:
“Y’know, it just occurs to me. . .what if you get on the toilet just before midnight, take a crap, and finish after midnight? Then you’d have the same shit, different day.”
“‘Same shit, different day’ - person who is on the toilet bowl from 11:59 PM until 12:01 AM” was posted on Twitter on April 24, 2012. “Last night, I was sitting on the toilet at 11:59 p.m. and the clock struck midnight. I thought, ‘Same shit, different day’” was posted on Reddit—Dad Jokes on May 7, 2018.
