“Sometimes opening your eyes may be the most painful thing you ever have to do” is a saying that has been printed on many images. The saying probably originated on a meme in December 2013, but authorship is uncertain.

“Creativity Alliance have been hanging their flag in the town and putting stickers onto bus stops, including one particularly delightful effort, which is of a white, blank-faced man, putting a razor-blade to his closed eye with the caption, ‘Sometimes opening your eyes might be the most painful thing you have to do’” was printed in Vice on March 24, 2015.
