“Stockalypse” (stock + apocalypse) is when there’s a disaster in the stock market with a sudden collapse in stock prices. The term “stockalypse” has been cited in print since at least January 2000, but remains little-used.
   
A similar disaster in banking is called a “bankageddon.”

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Watch out for years that end in zero. They’re bad for the stock market. In fact, they’re often big zeros.

Wall Street was given a taste this week of “Stockalypse 2000” as the Nasdaq composite index had a meltdown of 230 points, its largest one-day point loss ever, on Tuesday.
