“Support our/the troops. Bring them home” is an anti-war saying that has been printed on many images. Anti-war protesters are sometimes said to be anti-troops, but this protest message uses language to reverse that perception.
 
“SUPPORT OUR TROOPS IN VIETNAM, BRING THEM HOME NOW!!” was printed in The Militant (New York, NY) on April 18, 1966. The saying was popular during the Vietnam War years, and has been used for subsequent wars.

SAN DIEGO (UPI)—Vice President Hubert H, Humphrey today plugged Edmund G, Brown for another term as governor before a few hundred persons greeted him on his arrival at Lindbergh Field.
 
Humphrey was also met by about two dozen anti-Viet Nam war pickets carrying signs that read, “We are the Nervous Nellies,” “Support our troops—bring them home alive,” and “For God’s sake, stop.”

In retrospect, the guy who ends every speech with “may God protect our troops” was probably always going to go along with the withdrawal agreement!
“Support the troops, bring them home,” the clever triangulating signs used to say, and now Biden has.
