Bags of potato chips (called “crisps” in the UK) often come packed with a lot of air.
     
“Ten packets of Walkers crisps have been sent to the International Space Station after reports that they were running low on air” was posted on Twitter by Mick Hawkes (and others) on March 20, 2013. The original joke was probably posted on the Sickipedia website. “Two packets of Walkers crisps have been sent to the International Space Station after reports that they were running low on air” was posted on Sickipedia on March 22, 2022.
