“The Big Apple” (Gimme a Break! episode, 1984)

Gimme a Break! was an American sitcom television series that starred Nell Carter (1948-2003). The episode “The Big Apple: Part 1” aired on February 16, 1984, and Nell, while visiting New York City, bumps into New York City Mayor Ed Koch (1924-2013). She also visits Broadway and sings “On Broadway.”
 
The episode “The Big Apple: Part 2” aired on February 23, 1984. While getting a taxi, Nell meets Tony Randall (1920-2004). an actor famous for the New York City-themed sitcom The Odd Couple. The end credits bill Randall as “Mr. New York.”

Gimme a Break! is an American sitcom television series created by Mort Lachman and Sy Rosen, that aired on NBC for six seasons from October 29, 1981, until May 12, 1987. The series starred Nell Carter as the housekeeper for a widowed police chief (Dolph Sweet) and his three daughters.
