“The City that Never Sleeps is taking a nap” (2019–20 coronavirus pandemic)

New York City has been called the “City that Never Sleeps.” The 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, however, resulted in many closures.

“New York City — the city that never sleeps — is taking a nap” was posted on the Times Union (Albany, NY) blog on March 13, 2020. “Well it finally happened….walking home from work and the city that never sleeps is napping” was posted on Twitter by LL on March 15, 2020. “NAP FOR CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS: Mayor orders restaurants, bars, theaters closed” was printed in the Ottawa (ON) Citizen on March 16, 2020.

For anyone still thinking that the pandemic is a joke or a hoax: Las Vegas is shutting down for 30 days. Sin City is going dark, so you need to do your damn job and self-isolate! #vegasshutdown https://reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/nevada-casinos-closing-for-30-days-following-state-order-1984236/

Romanian photographer Eduard Pălăghiţă pictured a Dacia1300 auto from 1977 on New York streets, during its lockdown. Quite unusual to see the Romanian iconic car in the city that never sleeps, being shot in an album entitled “The city that never sleeps is taking a nap”.
