“The fire at the clock factory caused a lot of second hand smoke”

Secondhand smoke as nothing to do with the hands of a clock, but there are jokes. “Did you hear about the fire at the clock factory? Nobody died but several people suffered from second hand smoke.  (Gary Hallock)” was posted on the newsgroup alt.humor.puns on May 12, 2001.

Wikipedia: Passive smoking
Passive smoking is the inhalation of smoke, called secondhand smoke (SHS), or environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), by persons other than the intended “active” smoker. It occurs when tobacco smoke enters an environment, causing its inhalation by people within that environment. Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke causes disease, disability, and death.
