“The government offered to buy my guns from me…” (joke)

A joke about gun buyback programs was posted on Reddit—Jokes on September 17, 2019:

“The government offered to buy my guns from me. But after a thorough background check of the buyer, I am not comfortable with selling weapons to organized crime.”

“I was going to turn all my guns over to the government, but I did a background check and none of them were mentally stable” is a similar joke about turning over guns to the government.

Wikipedia: Gun buyback program
A gun buyback program is one instituted to purchase privately owned firearms. The goal, when purchasing is done by the police, is to reduce the number of firearms owned by civilians, and provide a process whereby civilians can sell their privately owned firearms to the government without risk of prosecution. In most cases, the agents purchasing the guns are local police when purchasing firearms for the government.
