“The gym accused me of stealing, but the sign clearly said ‘free weights’”

“Free weights” is a term in weight training that includes dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls, sandbells and kettlebells. It doesn’t mean that these weights are “free,” but there are jokes.

“Oh wait, no it wasn’t a euphemism! i misunderstood. it was a joke about stealing ‘free weights’!” was posted on Twitter on January 16, 2012. “Just got attested for Stealing Free weights. I’m such an #oxymoron” was posted on Twitter on February 21, 2013. “I just got arrested as I left the gym for stealing equipment. In my defense I was told they were free weights” was posted on Twitter on March 18, 2014.

Wikipedia: Weight training
Free weights include dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls, sandbells, and kettlebells. Unlike weight machines, they do not constrain users to specific, fixed movements, and therefore require more effort from the individual’s stabilizer muscles. It is often argued that free weight exercises are superior for precisely this reason.

I got arrested for stealing, after I left the gym, yesterday. Apparently, they are not “free” weights.
