“The Sky’s the Limit” (Midland slogan)

The Sky’s the Limit” is the slogan of Midland, Texas. President George W. Bush has referred to the slogan in official speeches.

Welcome to the Midland, Texas, Chamber of Commerce web site.

Midland is the place where “The Sky’s The Limit!” as noted by former Midlander and now President George W. Bush.  You’ll find Midland demographics, business relocation data, maps and newcomer information such as school listings and how to “get started” in Midland.

But I come from a different place and it has made me a different leader. In Midland, Texas, where I grew up, the town motto was, “The sky’s the limit,” and we believed it.There was a restless energy, a basic conviction that with hard work, anybody could succeed and everybody deserved a chance.

22 April 1974, Washington Post, “Midland, Texas: An Energy Crisis Boom Town” by John Painter, Jr., pg. A2:
The Chamber of Commerce has created City of Midland Energy Supply, Inc., to attract even more industry.

“The sky’s the limit in Midland, Texas,” shouted a recent ad sponsored by the chamber and the energy company.

And with the $10 oil price holding firm, it appears the “sky” will remain limitless for a long time to come.
