“There’s Only One New York” (NY1 News)
Cable channel one (ny1.com) is "NY1," Time Warner cable's 24-hour news channel devoted to New York City. It's popular for its "weather on the ones" updates. There's a news update every half hour. There are shows about politics, sports, and Broadway.

"There's only one New York" has been its slogan from the beginning, in the early 1990s. However, the words were even uttered by Babe Ruth!

12 August 1900, Atlanta Constitution, pg. B5:
"Well, after all, there's only one New York."

19 January 1935, New York TImes, pg. 16:
RUTH TIRED OF PARIS,
WANTS TO COME HOME
(...)
"Paris is really beautiful, but after all there's only one New York."

21 December 1937, New York Times, pg. 22:
Perhaps I am getting old. Perhaps I am homesick for little old New York, but it seems to me that the city is losing character. In 1900 "There's only one New York" meant something, and it was not pride in art, industry or wealth that moved the speaker. New York was New York, not simply one of the largest, most inhumanly beautiful cities in the world. The city I know and knew is being destroyed, and I am not sure that the New York I now know I altogether like.

New York, Dec. 18, 1937.

5 June 1951, New York Herald Tribune, pg. 23 ad:
There is Only
ONE New York
and PARK EAST
is its Revealing Magazine

17 December 1973, Washington Post, "A Lindsay Farewell," pg. B3:
The high point arrived when the man who once thought he had a shot at the presidency, chanted and tapped to "Who'd Want to Have to Live in Washington (When There's Only One New York)."
