Many people believe that there is “safety in numbers.” “Fifty million Frenchmen can’t be wrong” was a popular song in 1927.
 
English stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr has used this line since at least 2008:
 
“They say there’s safety in numbers. Tell that to six million Jews.”
 
The comment refers to the estimated number of six million Jewish people who died in the Holocaust of World War II.
