“This house is protected by the good Lord and a gun. Trespass and you will meet them both”

“This house is protected by the good Lord and a gun. You might meet them both if you come in unwelcome” is a jocular saying that has been printed on many images (especially house signs). American country music singer Josh Thompson‘s song “Way Out Here” (2010) begins:

“Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun. And you might meet ‘em both if you show up here not welcome, son.”

“This house is protected by the good Lord, and a gun. You might meet them both if you come in unwelcome” was posted on Twitter by Samuel L. Trapson on March 23, 2012.

“This home protected by the good lord and a gun. If you came here to steal or do harm you might meet them both” was a sign printed in the New York (NY) Times on January 21, 2018.

“Unwelcome is sometimes replaced by “uninvited.” “My house is protected by the good lord and a gun and you might get to meet both if you come in uninvited” was posted on Twitter by Jeff Klein on November 7, 2012. “This house is protected by the Good Lord and a gun. You might meet them both if you come in uninvited” was posted on Twitter by España Libertaria on June 29, 2020.

The word “trespass” is sometimes added. “This house is protected by the good Lord and a gun, trespass and you’ll meet them both” was posted on Twitter by Miranda Walczak on April 14, 2014.

“Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun
And you might meet ‘em both if you show up here not welcome, son
Our necks are burnt, our roads are dirt and our trucks ain’t clean
The dogs run lose, we smoke, we chew and fry everything
Out here, way out here.”

And if there is a question about what God has to do with any of this, she (Dana Loesch—ed.) keeps a sign in the window of the house that she and her family recently vacated. “This home protected by the good lord and a gun,” it read. “If you came here to steal or do harm you might meet them both.”

There is a sign I see on houses that says, “this house is protected by the good lord and a gun, trespass and you’ll meet both.” If you really believed your house was protect by “the lord,” what do you need the gun for?

Una mujer sin miedo a defender su propiedad privada (empoderamiento de verdad) y su pareja, apoyándose mutuamente ante los criminales. Nadie tiene derecho a quitarles lo que se han ganado con su trabajo.
Eso son ciudadanos libres.
