“Ticketmaster be like: Concert ticket: $40 Venue fee: $21.32 Access fee: $18.32…”

Ticketmaster is known for its many fees added to the basic ticket price. A joke was posted on Twitter by Michael Harriot on December 1, 2021, and the tweet went viral (over 240,000 likes):

“Ticketmaster be like:
Concert ticket: $40
Venue fee: 21.32
Access fee $18.32
Paperless transmission fee: $12.03
Fee Fee: $8.84
Fi Fo Fum: $3.43
Cuz We Can Fee: $2.01
Might as well fee: $1.89
WTF you gonna do nigga, not go? fee: $1.38
Another dollar won’t hurt nobody fee: $1.00”

The fee joke had been told several times before. “@Ticketmaster be like ‘$10 service fee. $5 order processing fee. $8 smoking break fee. $4 bathroom fee. $15 nose-picking fee.’ What a joke” was posted on Twitter by hot dog universe on July 9, 2013.

Pricing
The face value of Ticketmaster tickets is determined by the artist or client. In addition to the face value price, venues and Ticketmaster add fees to pay for their services.

Typically, fees added to a ticket’s face value have included:

. Facility charge – Charge added by the venue.
. Delivery fee – Charges added dependent on the ticket delivery method and credit card processing fees.
. Service fee – Sum of charges added based on the “agreement with each client (artists)” and the order processing fee. Ticketmaster “may earn a profit on the order processing fee”.
