The expression “to be fair” means to speak or act honestly. It usually doesn’t mean “to be of a fair complexion,” but there are jokes.

Not a native speaker but ‘fair’ also means ‘pretty’ (until now I thought it meant ‘light skinned’
, so to be pretty op needs to stay out of the sun to not be too tanned (?)
