“To have and to hold and to keep your beer cold” (koozie saying)

“To have and to hold and to keep your beer/drink cold” is a saying that has been printed on many images, such as koozies. The saying is a jocular take on marriage vows, and has been printed on many wedding koozies.

“Kool Koozie Six: ‘To have and to hold and to keep your beer cold!’ The picture depicts a cold draft beer in the center of the text. The bride and groom’s names appear below the picture and text, with the date of the wedding” was posted on the newsgroup Publish These Articles on March 17, 2007. “@koozies to have and to hold and to keep your drink cold was a HUGE hit at my wedding!” was posted on Twitter by Melissa Copeland on April 14, 2009.

In the United States, Catholic wedding vows may also take the following form:

I, ____, take you, ____, to be my lawfully wedded (husband/wife), to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.
