TPTSB or PTSB (The Powers That Shouldn’t Be)

“The powers that be, are ordeined of God” is from Romans XIII.1 of the King James Bible (1611). The term “the powers that be” has been used to describe other higher powers, such as those of government or the upper management of a business. “TPTB/PTB” have both been cited in print since at least 1965.

“We need to be vocal and assertive and not afraid to challenge those powers that be who are quickly becoming the powers that ‘shouldn’t be’” was cited in print in 1992. “TPTSB (the powers that shouldn’t be)” was cited in 2006. “Powers That Shouldn’t Be (PTSB)” was cited in 2008.

Wikipedia: The powers that be (phrase)
In idiomatic English, “the powers that be” is a phrase used to refer to those individuals or groups who collectively hold authority over a particular domain. It is a plurale tantum where “be” is the archaic alternative form of “are”; the singular equivalent, “the power that is,” is less commonly used. The Powers That Were (TPTW) is also another derivation that is used.

Some examples of “powers that be” are:

. Governments, both central and local, and the accompanying civil service
. The upper management of a business
. Those who control the dissemination of information
. Controlling bodies in any organization or activity
. Karma or fate

(Oxford English Dictionary)
the powers that be and variants [after Romans 13:1] : the authorities; the people exercising political or social control.

We need to be vocal and assertive and not afraid to challenge those powers that be who are quickly becoming the powers that “shouldn’t be.”

From what I can see, the writers know all of this and are trying to tie up these loose ends and get some version of a fluid story going. whether or not they can overcome TPTSB (the powers that shouldn’t be) is yet to be seen.

Why Sports Suck Weblog
Sports Announcers/Color Commentators
May 26, 2008
I can make a salient point by asking a simple question: how many of you shut off the volume when you’re watching a game. The average sports play-by-play announcer, and color commentator, is so bad that it doesn’t just take away from the games, but makes them nearly unwatchable. I spend more time yelling at the TV over the idiotic comments than the actual game. To make matters worse, it appears the Powers That Shouldn’t Be (PTSB) believe former players make for good commentators.

I don’t call them “The Powers That Be”. How about “The Powers That Shouldn’t Be”? I don’t call them “The Elite” either. They are far from elite. They have to play a fixed game if they want to win. That’s why they’re fixing it. They are actually POWERLESS.

The Powers That Shouldn’t Be could never be and will cease to be…..
as soon as people like you and your neighbors stop participating in their plan.
They can’t do this alone…..there are not that many of them.

As long as people continue to give their power away to TPTSB and say there’s nothing you can do, but go kill for the government or work for some evil giant like Monsanto, the people will remain powerless.
