Wikipedia: Saltine cracker

It has perforations over its surface, as well as a distinctively dry and crisp texture.

Why is an unsalted saltine still called a saltine and not a tine?
I don’t get it it seems that upon eliminating a key ingredient you would be obligated to change the name
