“Voluntaryists: Diligently plotting to teach people that taxation is theft…”

“Voluntaryists: Diligently plotting to teach people that taxation is theft, all interactions should be voluntary, and that they own themselves” is shown on a meme, with a man looking over a globe, that was posted on Facebook by Bob Rogers on December 29, 2019. The original authorship of the meme is unknown.

“Libertarians: Diligently plotting to take over the world and leave you alone” is a related meme. While the Libertarian meme is from Liberty Maniacs, the Voluntaryist meme does not appear to be on this same website.

Wikipedia: Voluntaryism
Voluntaryism (UK: /ˈvɒləntəriɪzəm/, US: /-tɛr-/; sometimes voluntarism /ˈvɒləntərɪzəm/) is used to describe the philosophy of Auberon Herbert, and later that of the authors and supporters of The Voluntaryist magazine, which, similarly to anarcho-capitalism, rejects the state and supports private property.

As a term, voluntaryism was coined in this usage by Auberon Herbert in the 19th century and gained renewed use since the late 20th century, especially within libertarianism in the United States.

Voluntaryist principal beliefs stem from the principles of self-ownership and non-aggression.
