Walmart (an American multinational retail corporation) has many self-checkouts. “Walmart will be closed on Thanksgiving so self-checkout cashiers can be with their families” is a jocular saying that has been printed on several images.
“WALMART WILL BE CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING SO SELF-CHECKOUT CASHIERS CAN BE WITH THEIR FAMILIES” (shown on an image) was posted on Facebook by Mike Morales (and others) on October 30, 2022. It’s unknown who created the meme.
“Walmart will be closed Christmas Day so both cashiers can be with their families” is a related joke.
