“We DO NOT throw away perfectly good food in this house. We put the leftovers in Tupperware…”

Many people don’t throw away leftover food. They put the leftovers in Tupperware containers and store them in the refrigerator for a month—and then throw the food out.

“I put leftovers in tupperware knowing that I’m gonna throw out the whole container in about a month or so” was posted on Twitter by Lonnie Jizzenhall on November 21, 2013. “We DO NOT throw away perfectly good food in this house. We put the leftovers in Tupperware, put the Tupperware in the fridge, let it go bad, THEN throw it out” was posted on Twitter by Austen Allred on March 5, 2022, and this tweet received about 10,000 likes.

Wikipedia: Tupperware
Tupperware is a home products line that includes preparation, storage, and serving products for the kitchen and home. In 1942, Earl Tupper developed his first bell-shaped container; the brand products were introduced to the public in 1946.

The term “Tupperware” is often used generically to refer to plastic or glass food storage containers (tubs) with snap close lids.

Yes, it’s similar to our system with leftovers:
1. Put leftovers in tupperware
2. Put in fridge
3. Wait 2 weeks
4. Throw away
