“We need to quit calling DC a swamp. A swamp is a place with an amazing ecosystem. DC is a sewer”

Washington, DC (the seat of the U.S. federal government) is often called a swamp, but many do not believe that is accurate.

“DC is a cesspool calling it a swamp is wrong Swamps are an efficient ecosystem nothing wasted” was posted on Twitter by JC on April 10, 2014. “we need to stop calling it a ‘swamp’: a natural occurring part of the ecosystem that supports life. This is ‘sewage’” was posted on Twitter by Vaccines Save on January 3, 2017.

“We need to quit calling DC a swamp. A swamp is a place with an amazing ecosystem. We need to call DC a sewer. A place that is a full of rats and disgusting smelly bacteria” was posted on Facebook by Curtis R. Pack on March 10, 2021. The saying went viral.

Wikipedia: Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and also known as D.C. or just Washington, is the capital city of the United States. It is located on the Potomac River bordering Maryland and Virginia, with Congress holding its first session there in 1800. The city was named for George Washington, the first president of the United States and a Founding Father, and the federal district is named after Columbia, a female personification of the nation.

I’ve taken to calling Trump’s Cabinet a Superfund site. At least a swamp supports an ecosystem. A Superfund site is just [Skull and crossbones]

(1/3) Can we please stop calling DC a swamp? Swamps are wonderful places, full of life and vegetation, an important part of the ecosystem.
DC is a cesspoll…a septic tank. A reservoir for temporary storage for bodily waste.

Pet peeve: Calling DC a ‘swamp’.
A swamp is a vibrant ecosystem supporting a wide diversity of flora & fauna.
DC is a sewer. A place full of viral, bacterial & fungal disease agents swimming in a stream of shit.
